The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Your contact and billing information, such as your email address and billing address.
  • The notes and other data you enter into Jianjin.
  • Information about how you use the service (see examples below).

How we get your personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • You provided it when you created your account
  • You entered it into the application

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • From our server logs, we obtain information about your usage of Jianjin, such as the dates and times you interact with the service, what types of devices or browsers you use, and errors you encounter which we may need to address.
  • From our third-party authentication provider, we have access to certain information from its logs, such as your IP address and device information (device/browser type and version, operating system type). We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • Provide our services, for example to store your notes and other information and make them available to you on any device you choose to log in on.
  • Maintain, administer and improve our services, for example:
    • To send you the newsletters about our products and services
    • To contact you about important changes to your account
    • To bill you for your usage of the service, and collect payments
    • To provide troubleshooting and customer support
    • To fix bugs and other problems
    • To make decisions about future changes to the service

We do not share any personal information we hold with third parties, except as required by law.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

  • Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by deleting your account.
  • We have a legitimate interest in operating the service.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored on servers in the United Kingdom.

The content you upload to Jianjin is stored until you ask us to delete it.

Other personal and billing information is held until your account is closed with no payments outstanding.

For any of your information, once it is deleted, we remove it from our live systems, but it may be retained in backups for up to one year. This is necessary in order to protect against accidental deletion.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
